A sluugish few days on the market as we wait for the result of the US election next week

It feels a little like the days leading up to Brexit as investors look to position themselves for what is looking like a tight result

Markets tend to look beyond short term events but there could be some significant volatility over the next few days if the spike in the volaitilty idex (VIX) is any guide

Locally we are in the middle of the AGM season where shareholders have the oppoprtunity to ask questions and Board's tend to give updated earnings guidance

The dividend yield on the ASX should put a floor on the index and any sign of enhanced volatility will reduce the liklihood of any increase in interest rates

Finally out terms of trade have improved reflecting higher iron ore prices

I wouild still rather be here than overseas !
